Tier 1 Interventions

Tier 1 supports are implemented school wide to promote positive behaviors and interactions.
​Tier 1 supports school-wide common language, common practices and constant application.

A strong positive relationship is at the heart of every learning opportunity. Rita Pierson said it best when she said, "kids don't learn from teachers they don't like". Teachers should spend a large portion of time investing in building positive relationships with their students. Relationship building strategies should be built into lesson planning, just like academics. The strategies listed below can help build sustained positive relationships in the classroom for teachers and students.  

Teach Expectations

It is important that students know what is expected of them at school. When teachers teach expectations for every environment of the school, they know what is expected of them. This saves instructional time, creates consistency and creates a successful student.
